Message from the Chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus

At present the achievements of states in the economic, political, and cultural spheres are based on science. An innovative path to development chosen by the Republic of Belarus drives sustained economic growth. In this process the leading role of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is undeniable. It is the highest state scientific institution that manages and conducts basic and applied research in all fields of science. The National Academy is actively involved in the implementation of large complex national programs related to exploration of outer space, creation of remote sensing system, production of nuclear energy, development of country's mineral resources, pharmaceutical synthesis, design and production of advanced machinery and unmanned vehicles, selection of crops and livestock, smart farming, applying artificial intelligence in different spheres, etc.

The priority areas of scientific and technical activity in Belarus in 2026–2030, approved by Presidential Decree No. 135 of April 1, 2025, are: digital technologies and artificial intelligence; innovative technologies in industry; biological, chemical-pharmaceutical, and medical technologies; innovative technologies in the agro-industrial complex and food industry; scientific and scientific-technical support for the security of people, society, and the state.

In each of these areas the National Academy has significant scientific potential and a well-developed R&D infrastructure. To test scientific ideas the National Academy establishes deep tech enterprises that confirm the ideas and bringing them to production scale. As a result, the National Academy already operates production facilities corresponding to V and VI technological paradigms, and has implemented system projects that support the development of fundamentally new economic sectors and activities in Belarus.

The main resource of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is its people whose high research skills meet the requirements of both the state bodies and the international scientific cooperation system. The National Academy has about 14000 employees – including over 1400 PhDs and 300 doctors of science, 99 corresponding members and 83 academicians.

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus performs projects and contracts working together with many scientific and industrial partners in the country and abroad, it is also actively involved in the programs of international organizations. We invite potential partners to collaborate on mutually beneficial projects and ventures, as well as to become customers of our high-tech products. Actual partnership opportunities are available at the Virtual Exhibition of the NAS of Belarus.
