Summary
The State Enterprise "Konus" offers consumers of the service of thermal diffusion galvanizing of metal products under a subcontracting and/or outsourcing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
The State Enterprise "Konus" provides the service of "applying anti-corrosion coating by the method of thermal diffusion galvanizing" of metal products in accordance with the standard STB ISO 14713-3-2012 (corresponds to GOST R 9.316-2006).
Thermal diffusion zinc coating is applied to the metal surface under the influence of high temperatures of 300-450°C and in a closed space of retorts filled with galvanized parts and a zinc-containing powder mixture. The transition of zinc atoms into the vapor phase and their diffusion into the iron substrate occurs; in this case, as with hot-dip galvanizing, an iron-zinc alloy of a complex phase structure is formed. Due to this, a homogeneous and durable protective layer is formed.
A special feature of the thermal diffusion method is the use of zinc-containing powders. They are poured into containers into which metal products are loaded. In addition to zinc, the powders contain various activators that improve the diffusion of metals and help form a zinc layer of the required thickness.
Diffusion zinc coatings work in industrial, atmospheric and water environments, as well as in the oil and gas industry: the diffusion intermetallic layer has increased corrosion and erosion resistance.
Application areas of TDC:
- galvanizing of hardware;
- galvanizing of pipes, pipeline fittings;
- galvanizing of fittings for power transmission lines, elements of railway tracks and contact networks;
- galvanizing of road and bridge fences;
- galvanizing of auto parts, furniture fittings;
- galvanizing of oil fittings, etc.

Advantages and Innovations
Advantages of thermal diffusion galvanizing:
- The coating is applied evenly. It accurately reproduces the surface profile of the product as a whole and individual parts on it (thread, marking, other fine surface relief).
- It is possible to obtain any coating thickness at the customer's request (from 10 µm).
- Galvanizing takes place at gentle temperatures that do not destroy the metal, and therefore do not worsen its properties, so the coating can be applied to springs and other pre-heat-treated parts.
- High corrosion resistance of the coating (up to 1500 hours in a salt fog chamber).
- The coating has a higher hardness than other zinc coatings (microhardness ~ 4500 MPa) and has good resistance to abrasive wear.
- No hydrogen absorption during the coating process and, accordingly, no hydrogen embrittlement in the coated products.
- The process can be used to apply coatings to products obtained using powder technology, to porous products, as well as to pre-assembled units.
- The coating has high adhesive properties for subsequent application of paint and varnish coatings, plastics, rubber.
- TDC allows avoiding defects of hot-dip galvanizing: burrs, bubbles, roughness.

Additional comments
The Belarusian Specialized Territorial Administration "Konus" was created by the order of the USSR Ministry of Radio Industry dated 30.08.1984 No. 517 with the assignment of functions for the supply and technical maintenance of automated troop control systems (Front ACS "Maneuver") and transferred to the ownership of the Republic of Belarus in accordance with the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated October 14, 1991 No. 385 "On the procedure for accepting enterprises, associations, organizations and institutions of union subordination into the ownership of the Republic of Belarus".
RUPP "Konus" was transferred to the subordination of the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Agricultural Mechanization" in pursuance of the Resolution of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus dated July 9, 2009 No. 59 "On the transfer of republican unitary enterprises to scientific and practical centers".
In order to protect metals from corrosion, an investment project was created "Creation of production for corrosion protection of long metal structures by hot-dip galvanizing". The project was initiated by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
2022. The application of a passivating coating on a fresh zinc coating was introduced into production.
2023. The enterprise began operating a pilot site for applying an anti-corrosion coating to metal products using the thermal diffusion galvanizing method.
