Summary
A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute offers consumers electric arc plasma torches under a commercial agreement with technical assistance and is looking for partners to conclude a research cooperation agreement.
Description
The features of the plasma torch as an instrument of modern technology are the use of ultra-high temperatures (3000 - 10000 K), simple and efficient control of technological parameters (power, gas flow), fast start-up and establishment of the operating mode of the plasma torch.

Plasmatrons of direct and alternating current have been developed:
- jet electric arc plasma torches of indirect action
- plasma torches with remote arc (direct action), when one of the electrodes is the material being processed.

Plasma torches with power from 20 kW to 2 MW are manufactured.

To create plasma flows with a power of up to 100 kW, electric arc plasma torches of the PDS type (arc plasma torch with a rod cathode) have been developed. Such plasma torches make it possible to obtain plasma of various gases with a flow rate of 3-10 g/s and an average mass temperature of 3000–5000 K

To create plasma flows of higher power (200 - 500 kW), plasma torches with hollow electrodes have been developed. This type of construction has both direct current plasma torches and AC plasma torches. Such plasma torches make it possible to obtain plasma of various gases with a flow rate of 10–30 g/s and an average mass temperature of 3000–5000 K. Air, nitrogen, argon, methane, mixtures of light hydrocarbons, water vapor, etc. are used as the working fluid.

Plasma-chemical technologies using plasma torches:
- obtaining nitrogen oxides from air and equimolecular mixtures of nitrogen and oxygen, followed by the production of nitric acid;
- production of acetylene and ethylene from gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons;
- processing of natural phosphates and obtaining thermo- and fluorine-free phosphates and phosphorus pentoxide, followed by the synthesis of phosphoric acid;
-synthesis of refractory compounds (nitrides, oxides, carbides) in low-temperature plasma;
- obtaining oxides of rare earth elements (yttrium, neodymium, cerium);
-synthesis of polishing powders based on cerium dioxide;
-obtaining thermally stable coloring pigments based on oxides or their mixtures;
- processing (burning and vitrification) of radioactive waste;
- processing and destruction of toxic industrial organic and organochlorine wastes;
-thermal treatment and regeneration of sorbents and catalysts.

The Institute offers partners:
- purchase of electric arc plasma torches with different characteristics under a commercial agreement with technical assistance;
- improving the design of electric arc plasma torches under a research cooperation agreement.
Advantages and Innovations
- high efficiency of converting electrical energy into thermal energy with a comparative simplicity of hardware design
- high concentration of energy in a small volume of plasma
- high speed of chemical reactions, which allows you to create high-performance devices - reactors
- possibility of stationary heating of gas to average mass temperatures of the order of 15·10^3 K at pressures up to 20 MPa
- the ability to heat almost any gases (reducing, oxidizing, inert) and their mixtures
- small size and low metal consumption of plasma technology
