Description
B.I.Stepanov Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus manufactures high-precision prisms (rectangular, Dove prisms, pentaprisms, trippel prisms, polygonal prisms of complex shape) and prism blocks from glasses that meet high spectral and operational standards.

Rectangular prisms are used to rotate the optical system by 90° and rotate the image by 180° in one plane. When applying a beam-splitting coating to the hypotenuse, the prism serves to divide the beam of rays into two parts.

Dove prisms are rotating prisms that, without changing the direction of a parallel beam of rays passing through them, give a mirror image of an object. They can also be used as a retroreflector and image rotation compensator.

Pentaprisms are used to increase the optical length while maintaining the compactness of the structure. They have the appearance of a pentagon, two faces of which are covered with a reflective layer, and one of the three transparent ones is not working. The light entering the pentaprism always exits it at right angles to the original direction due to the angle between the reflecting faces of 45°. Due to the even number of reflections, the image visible through the pentaprism remains straight.

Trippel prisms reflect the beam to the source regardless of their orientation and are used as retroreflectors.

Prisms and prism blocks allow you to perform the following tasks:
