Description
Thermally modified wood is an environmentally friendly material with high biostability, durability, dimensional stability, and low equilibrium moisture content.

The production of thermomodified wood is one of the promising areas for the development of woodworking and
building materials industry. To reduce the cost of production of thermally modified wood, technology and equipment were developed using intensive high-temperature drying in the modification process, which made it possible to significantly reduce the cost
production.

The developed processing technology consists in combining the process of drying and thermal modification, in which the first stage of modification is high-temperature drying with pressure relief. Processing is carried out in a sealed chamber under neutral gas pressure (steam, CO, N). Drying with pressure release consists in cyclic processing by heating the material under pressure to a temperature of 120 - 140 degrees. C, followed by a sudden release of pressure. With a decrease in humidity to 5 - 8%, short-term high-temperature treatment of the material at a temperature of 160 - 210 C. Then the material is deodorized and cooled.

Advantages and Innovations
The technology of thermal modification of wood using high-temperature drying with pressure relief allows to reduce the heat treatment time by more than two times, and reduce heat costs by 12-16%.

Technological regulations for the implementation of the method of thermomechanical modification of wood by pressure relief have been developed. Samples of thermomodified wood were obtained on experimental equipment and tested for compliance with modern requirements for the material. Pilot plant made
