Summary
The Scientific and Practical Center for Animal Husbandry offers consumers services for the development and adaptation to customer conditions of feed additives and whole milk substitutes based on dry milk whey and the technology of their use in feeding young cattle under an outsourcing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
The Scientific and Practical Center for Animal Husbandry solves the national economic problem of ensuring the rational use of secondary raw materials in the dairy industry, reducing the consumption of expensive feed, which allows increasing the economic efficiency of the industry.
Milk whey is intended for the production of feed and feeding farm animals.
The demand for milk whey in the world is high. Among the largest exporters of dry whey is the Republic of Belarus (according to the results of 2021, the republic is in third place after the EU and the USA). Maximum processing and sale of whey provides certain foreign exchange earnings to the country's economy. In addition to the food industry, whey is in demand in cosmetology and the medical field, it is indispensable in the manufacture of compound feed and other feed products.
As a result of the development, there is a quantitative and qualitative improvement of the feed base, use as an additional source of feed and improvement of existing ones in order to increase the efficiency of their use.
The information is posted in the “Album of promising developments of the organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for the real sector of the economy” (2023), pp. 465 - 466. (in Russian)

Advantages and Innovations
Despite the successes achieved in processing various types of milk whey, specialists do not lose hope of learning how to organize production processes in such a way as to minimize the volume of dairy waste. Currently, 98% of whey is processed, which is used as a substitute for imported protein and carbohydrate additives.
Milk whey contains milk protein and lactose, which are easily digested in the body of calves, will be used in the production of whole milk substitutes and starter feeds, which helps to increase animal productivity and reduce the consumption of more expensive imported feed.
The use of milk whey in feeding livestock and in the production of feed based on it is environmentally safe, since the problem of disposal is eliminated.

It coordinates the activities of four subsidiary unitary enterprises. The main goal of the Scientific and Practical Center is to concentrate the scientific potential of the republic on increasing the efficiency of animal husbandry through comprehensive scientific research and the introduction of scientific developments into production, their author's support, as well as improving the skills of animal husbandry specialists through courses, seminars, conferences, postgraduate and doctoral studies.
The main areas of scientific and scientific-technical activities of the organization are:
- Carrying out fundamental and applied research aimed at developing effective methods for accelerated breed formation and reproduction of farm animals;
- Improving the breeding of new breeds, crosses, types and lines of farm animals (dairy and beef cattle, pigs, horses and sheep), birds and fish bred in the republic;
- Development of environmentally friendly technologies for feeding, keeping, reproducing and using animals, ensuring maximum manifestation of their genetic potential with minimum expenditure of labor, energy and feed;
- Development of new compositions of compound feed and feed additives based on local sources of raw materials;
- Finding ways to increase the efficiency of transforming feed energy into livestock products;
- Development of therapeutic, preventive and diagnostic veterinary drugs;
- Improving the technology of feeding, keeping and using animals, birds and fish;
- Training of scientific personnel and advanced training of zootechnical specialists.
