Summary
The Institute of Metal Technology offers consumers billets from antifriction silumin with high mechanical and antifriction properties to replace bronzes, brass, babbits in friction units of various machines and mechanisms under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners to conclude a distribution services agreement.
Description
Anti-friction silumin (AS) is an innovative development of the Institute, today it is the most promising substitute for bronze. This is a new, relatively light and wear-resistant aluminum-based alloy with high mechanical and anti-friction properties, which is used to replace bronzes, brass, babbits in friction units of various machines and mechanisms.
ITM NAS of Belarus is the developer and the only manufacturer of billets from this material.

Properties
Antifriction silumin
 Tensile strength σv, MPa   300-450
 Yield strength σt, MPa 250-300
 Relative elongation, % 1-5
 Hardness, HB 110-150
 Density, g/cm3 2.8
 Coefficient of linear expansion, α∙106, °С  28-30
Wear resistance 0.5∙10-8 - 1∙10-7 – intensity of linear wear with lubrication,
6.5∙10-11 - 6.5∙10-10 – intensity of mass wear with lubrication,
5.5∙-10-3 - 10-9 – intensity of mass wear without lubrication,
0.001-0.05 cm/h - mass wear rate with lubrication,
0.005-0.9 cm/h - mass wear rate without lubrication.
Friction coefficient 0.01-0.06 - with lubrication,
0.3-0.8 - without lubrication.
Max. operating temperature, °C   up to 120
Shaft hardness, HRC  not less than 20
  Permissible load (MPa) - speed (m / s) up to 100 MPa - 0.5 m / s,
up to 50 MPa - 1 m / s,
up to 10 MPa - 5 m / s.
Corrosion resistance Corrosion resistant or insensitive to oil, gas condensate, gasoline, kerosene, water and atmospheric pollution.
Corrosion is caused by hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, alkali.
 Machinability
Billets made of antifriction silumin are processed on lathes,
milling, gear-cutting, planing and other metal-cutting machines with
using coolant.
Lubrication It is recommended to use in a lubricating medium (IA20, IA40, Litol, etc.).

 More.
Advantages and Innovations
A high degree of structural inversion and a highly dispersed microstructure provide silumins with globular silicon with unique anti-friction properties.

In terms of mechanical properties, billets made of AS are not inferior to similar ones made of bronze, and in terms of antifriction properties, they surpass them by 4..6 times. Billets from AS are cheaper than similar bronzes from Al-Fe and Pb-Zn-Sn by 2..2.5 times, and their weight is 2.5..3 times lower.
