The Institute of Technical Acoustics offers consumers the ultrasonic sealer ZU-100 for blood bags and blood processing lines under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners to conclude a distribution services agreement.

The Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus developed a medical device for sealing blood bags and blood processing lines - ultrasonic sealer ZU-100.

The device contains:
1) an ultrasonic generator,
2) a piezoelectric transducer,
3) a cutting element and
3) a movement mechanism.
The generator converts the electric energy into the energy of electrical vibrations in ultrasonic range, which than is converted into mechanical vibrations by the piezoceramic transducer and is transmitted through a waveguide into a polymer tube. Ultrasound, acting on the polymer material, melts it, and the movement mechanism provides constant compression of the tube, thereby welding it.

Specifications of the ZU-100:
* tube diameter - 3..6.5 mm
* welding time for tubes - 4..6 seconds
* power consumption:
- standby - 20 W
- welding - 100 W

The ultrasonic device is used by haematology centres and centres of blood transfusion for sealing blood bags and blood processing lines.

The institute offers consumers the ultrasonic sealer ZU-100 for blood bags and blood processing lines under a manufacturing agreement and offers interested partners device for distribution under a distribution services agreement.

Compared to low-performance mechanical joining methods and environmentally hazardous gluing operations, ultrasonic welding is environmentally friendly and provides higher productivity due to faster welding process, the ability to quickly change the welding tool, low weight and transportability of the device.

ZU-100 is used at blood transfusion stations in the Republic of Belarus.

The Institute conducts fundamental and applied research, as well as carries out scientific and technical developments in fields of semiconductor physics, magnetoelectric phenomena, ultrasonic vibrations, thermoelastic phase transformations, etc.

Scientific directions of the Institute:
1) study of the impact of concentrated energy flows on condensed media and physical processes;
2) development of methods and technologies for obtaining materials for functional and special purposes.

The Institute established the Republican Center for Ultrasound Technologies, which is an interdisciplinary scientific and technical center (cluster) of advanced scientific research. The expected scientific results of the work of the center are aimed at obtaining new scientific knowledge about the impact of acoustic impacts on:
* structure formation and properties of materials;
* technological processes;
* thermoelastic phase transformations in materials with shape memory.
