Summary
A.V. Luikov Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus offers a turbojet engine coupled with a pulse detonation combustion chamber under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners to conclude a research cooperation agreement.
Description
In the field of engine building, work is actively underway to create detonation jet engines, in which the conversion of the chemical energy of the fuel into the kinetic energy of jet propulsion is carried out by burning the fuel in a traveling detonation wave. Compared to other schemes organization of combustion, implemented in existing jet installations (turbojet, air-jet and rocket engines), detonation fuel combustion has a number of advantages, the main of them is a higher thermodynamic efficiency of the detonation cycle.

A.V. Luikov Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has developed fundamentally new jet-type installations with detonation combustion of gaseous and liquid fuels. Of particular interest is the combined scheme of a turbojet engine with a pulse detonation module.

The essence of the combined scheme of a turbojet engine with a detonation module is a combination of two types of fuel combustion to obtain jet thrust: conventional combustion at speeds up to 100 m/s and detonation at supersonic speeds (up to 2000 m/s and more). Conventional combustion is carried out in a turbojet engine with a maximum thrust of 210 N, detonation - in a detonation module, consisting of a power supply system, a mixing chamber and an annular detonation chamber. A combined turbojet engine with a detonation module (CTEWDM) runs on mixtures of kerosene with air and oxygen. The working process in the CTEWDM turbine unit is carried out continuously, in the detonation module - in a cyclic mode.

A turbojet engine with detonation combustion of fuel can find application in the market of aircraft: manned (sports and model aircraft) and unmanned (monitoring devices, training targets, agricultural and other special-purpose vehicles).

The Institute offers partners:
* manufacture the turbojet engine coupled with a pulsed detonation combustion chamber according to the customer's specifications under manufacturing agreement;
* conducting of joint experimental studies of the working process of turbojet engines coupled with a pulsed detonation combustion chamber at air flow speeds up to 100 m/s under research cooperation agreement.
Advantages and Innovations
The combined fuel combustion can significantly increase the propulsion performance (up to 20%) and the maneuverability of the aircraft.

Due to the special design of the detonation module with an automated control system, the thrust value can be adjusted over a wide range by changing the composition of the combustible mixture (fuel and oxidizer), the frequency of fuel injections through the injectors and the duration of each injection.

The developed algorithm of the working process of the engine allows to carry out the required number of dosed pulses with a given frequency and adjust the value of the thrust over a wide range, which together increases the efficiency of the jet unit.

Field tested/evaluated (TRL8)
Comments regarding stage of development
A prototype of a combined turbojet engine with a detonation module, suspended on a ballistic pendulum, has been developed.

A test chamber was created to study the working process CTEWDM, equipped with a control and monitoring complex, modern devices and high-precision digital measuring equipment.

Successfully tested a prototype CTEWDM in free stream at speeds up to 30 m/s. Experimental studies of the working process are being carried out at air flow speeds up to 100 m/s.
