Additional comments
The Institute of Plant Protection is a leading scientific and methodological center coordinating scientific research on the protection of agricultural plants from pests, diseases, and weeds in Belarus.

The main task of the institute is to increase the efficiency of plant protection. The efforts of the Institute’s scientists are aimed at reducing the harmfulness of phytophages, phytopathogens, and weeds in agrocenoses and obtaining high-quality crop yields.

The priority areas of activity of the institute are:
- Development of scientific criteria for the production and rational use of effective, environmentally friendly means of protecting crops from pests based on the use of local raw materials and strains of microorganisms.
- Development and introduction into production of technologies for protecting grain, potatoes, feed, industrial, vegetable, and fruit crops from pests, diseases, and weeds.
- Development of methodological foundations for the environmental safety of plant protection systems.
- Development of information technologies in plant protection.
- Improving the methodological foundations of phytosanitary monitoring of agricultural crops and forecasting the development of pests.
- Ecological and economic justification for the formation of an assortment of modern chemical and biological means of protection; development of technologies for their application.
- Search and identification of sources of crop resistance to dominant diseases.
- Development of methods for applying pesticides.

In order to improve integrated systems for the protection of agricultural crops from pests, technology for the use of drugs in the fight against pests, plant diseases, and weeds, and determination of residual quantities of pesticides, the institute cooperates with research organizations from near and far abroad - Poland, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, etc.
