Summary
Grodno Zonal Institute of Plant Growing of the NAS of Belarus offers consumers and producers of agricultural products Technology fof cultivation of festulolium for seeds under a commercial agreement with technical assistance and/or a licensing agreement and is looking for partners to conclude a technical cooperation agreement.
Description
An industry-specific technological regulation for cultivating festulolium for seed has been developed. It includes various seed production technologies based on various seeding methods (under cover and without cover after early-harvested crops), seeding rates, sowing dates, and mineral nutrition levels for the cover crop and festulolium.

This technology is import-substituting, which determines its competitiveness in the crop production sector of the Republic of Belarus. The availability of sufficient quantities of festulolium seeds on farms allows for the creation of domestically produced grass mixtures for various purposes, producing festulolium seeds for mineral soils in the Republic of Belarus—a crop that provides livestock with high-quality feed throughout the growing season.

Scope: Agricultural enterprises in the Republic of Belarus.

In recent years, the requirements for adequate cattle feed have increased dramatically, largely dependent on intensive field grass seeding and haymaking and pasture management. Achieving these objectives requires expanding the range of perennial grasses, introducing new species and varieties adapted to Belarus's soil and climate conditions, and increasing seed production. Festulolium, a crop characterized by rapid regrowth, good animal palatability, and an optimal protein-to-carbohydrate ratio, holds great promise for forage production in the country.

The following business model for cooperation is possible: Concluding paid and unpaid licensing agreements. Use in in-house production.

The information is published in the "Album of Promising Developments of NAS of Belarus Organizations for the Real Sector of the Economy," pp. 510-511. (in Russian)
Advantages and Innovations
This development enables festulolium seed yields of 8–10 centners per hectare, increases the productivity of 1 hectare of arable land in a crop rotation with this crop to 92.1–101.1 centners per hectare of feed units, and increases seed production profitability (compared to the baseline technology) by 14.4–16.6%. The achieved yield levels are comparable to the best global standards, which justifies the introduction of festulolium seed cultivation technology into agricultural production in the Republic of Belarus.

Using this technology in production does not have a negative impact on the environment, as it involves minimal pesticide load. Growing festulolium, a perennial cereal, for seed simultaneously reduces water and wind soil erosion.

Additional comments
The Republican Unitary Scientific Enterprise "Grodno Zonal Institute of Plant Growing of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" is the oldest integrated research institution, whose work is aimed at providing scientific support for the development of the plant growing industry in the region and the country, identifying the most effective methods and techniques for agricultural management, implementing scientific achievements and best practices in production, and training personnel.

Main areas of scientific, technical, and innovative activities:
- Creation and propagation, based on selection methods, of original and elite high-quality seed material for new regionalized and promising varieties of agricultural crops with increased seed productivity to support the elite and industrial seed production system of the region;
- Development and improvement of adaptive, environmentally friendly, resource-saving technologies for cultivating grains, legumes, industrial crops, and perennial grasses;
- Cultivation and propagation, using biotechnology, of improved original and elite seed material for regionalized and promising potato varieties, and improvement of adaptive production technologies;
Biotechnology-based propagation of fruit and berry crops using in vitro and ex vitro improved planting material, introduction, study, and propagation of fruit crop varieties, and improvement of cultivation technologies;
- Organizing the development and promotion of scientific achievements in agricultural production in the region to improve the efficiency of the crop production sector, and conducting personnel training;
- Implementing profit-generating activities in accordance with established procedures.

Key results of fundamental and applied research.

Industry-specific technological regulations:
- For the protection of blackcurrants from weeds in nursery and industrial plantings, taking into account the species composition, prevalence, and harmfulness of weeds, including a list of the most effective and safe herbicides that allow for the maximum and safest reduction of weed populations and the highest yield;
- For the energy-saving use of fertilizers and pesticides in the cultivation of perennial cereal and legume seeds, and technological regulations for the cultivation of perennial cereal grasses for seed;
- Cultivation of creeping clover for seed, including all types of work related to establishing, maintaining, and harvesting seed crops from the first year of production, ensuring seed production in the year the clover seed stand is established without a significant reduction in productivity in subsequent years;
- Cultivation of festulolium for seed, which includes multi-cost seed production technologies and ensures increased seed productivity while reducing their cost;
- Cultivation of fodder beans for seed, which partially addresses the problem of vegetable protein deficiency and reduces imports by using in-house seeds;

Four production facilities have been established within the research departments, producing the following products:
- Production of grain, legumes, and oilseed crops;
- Potato production;
- Production of perennial grasses;
- Production of horticultural products.
