The Institute of Flax offers consumers the Vizir oil flax variety to develop a highly productive domestic oil flax variety and reduce the volume of purchases of foreign varieties of seeds under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.

A variety of food-grade oil flax has been created that exceeds the best analogues in yield by 15–20 %, characterized by high quality parameters. The technology for cultivating zoned varieties has been improved to obtain a yield of 18–20 c/ha of oilseeds.

The variety was created by hybridizing varieties (Renew × Santa Catolina) × 21-A3 and subsequent individual selection. Average seed yield is 24.0 c/ha, lodging resistance is 5.0 points, oil content is 45.71%, oil yield is 9.43 c/ha, ALA content is 55.44 %.

Cultivation of the variety will reduce the volume of purchases of foreign-bred seed material. There is significant potential for increasing the share of highly productive domestic oil flax variety in the Belarusian and Russian markets.

The new variety provides an increase to the standard of 2.9 c/ha of seeds (the average seed yield over the years of study in breeding nurseries (2013-2015) was 24.0 c/ha), 3.2 % in oil content (oil content - 45.71 %), 1.4 c/ha in oil yield (oil yield - 9.43 c/ha), has high resistance to lodging (5.0 points), the ALA content was 55.44 %, susceptibility to diseases under infectious background conditions - 19.88 %, in field conditions - 5.43 %. The characteristics of the new variety correspond to the world level, in terms of seed yield and oil content - to well-known European analogues.

Surpasses foreign varieties included in the State Register of Varieties in seed yield, oil content, and yield, are distinguished by high resistance to diseases and lodging.

The incidence of diseases in conditions of an infectious background is 19.88 %.

- developing a technology for cultivating new zoned varieties of fiber flax and oil flax;
- developing new compositions of complex fertilizers;
diagnostics of mineral nutrition of fiber flax and oil flax;
- studying the relationship between the density of the stem stand and mineral nutrition, their influence on the quality indicators of fiber and seeds of fiber flax;
- studying the relationship between stem density and mineral nutrition on the yield and quality indicators of oil flax seeds;
- developing methods for reducing the incidence of diseases of straw and seeds of fiber flax and oil flax;
- expanding research in the direction of improving the technology of dew soaking of flax straw and standardization of flax products;
- conducting research on the further development of the theory of obtaining scutched flax fiber and identifying patterns of change in the structure of the stem layer at the stages of agricultural production;
- developing new instrumental methods for assessing the quality of scutched flax fiber and flax products.
