Summary
Scientific and Practical Centre for Arable Farming offers consumers a development of recommendations and services for the care of crops damaged by frost in 2025 under a autsorsing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
In the Republic of Belarus, frosts on the soil surface are observed in May every 6-8 years out of ten. On drained peatlands, subzero temperatures are observed annually throughout the growing season of grain crops. In some years (1982, 2000), severe frosts were recorded in June on mineral soils. The volume of damaged and dead crops reaches tens, and sometimes hundreds of thousands of hectares. Frosts are classified by intensity: weak - up to -3°C, average from 3 to -5°C and strong - from 6°C and below, as well as by duration: short - up to 5 hours, average - from 5 to 12 hours and long - more than 12 hours. In actively vegetating plants containing up to 90% water in tissues, frost causes a change in the state of water in the cells, a sharp change in its physical properties occurs, especially at temperatures from 4°C to 0°C: thermodynamic activity, liquid-ice temperature transition, the ratio of frozen and defrosted phases.

Additional comments
The Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Arable Farming is the leading research institution in the agricultural sector of Belarus.

The main scientific activity of the Scientific and Practical Center for Agriculture is the comprehensive development of issues of cost-effective production of crop products while observing environmental protection requirements.

The main goal is to create highly productive varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops, improve the seed production system, ensure the intensification of the crop production industry based on the development of zonal farming systems adapted to specific soil and climatic conditions, develop highly effective technologies for cultivation, application of fertilizers and plant protection products.

Main tasks:
• Creation of new competitive varieties and hybrids of grain, leguminous, cereal, industrial and forage crops with improved economically useful characteristics, possessing high and stable productivity, resistance to lodging, diseases and pests, frost and winter hardiness, combining high responsiveness to soil fertility and resistance to limiting environmental factors.
• Development of complex, economically and biologically sound land use systems based on the principles of greening and resource and energy conservation, ensuring sustainable productivity of arable land, reduced energy costs and production costs, expanded reproduction of soil fertility.
• Development of highly efficient, resource-saving technologies for the integrated use of macro- and microfertilizers for new varieties and agricultural crops, ensuring the formation of high yields and quality of plant products at the level of required standards.
• Use of the National Seed Bank of Genetic Resources of Economically Useful Plants as an object of national heritage for the purposes of collection, preservation, study and practical application in selection, production and for interstate exchange.
• Development of new forms of complex fertilizers, balanced in terms of nutrient ratios, for major agricultural crops, taking into account their biological characteristics and soil fertility.
• Development and implementation of resource-saving integrated systems for protecting agricultural crops from pests, diseases and weeds in the conditions of adaptive farming.
• Development and improvement of highly efficient resource-saving zonal systems of melioration farming and grassland management, ensuring increased productivity of reclaimed lands, sustainable functioning of agroecosystems, conservation and rational use of natural resources.

Main areas of activity and areas of cooperation:
• Creation and evaluation of source material for selection of grain and industrial crops, perennial grasses using genetic and biotechnological methods.
• Creation of new varieties and hybrids of grain, leguminous, cereal, industrial crops with improved economically useful characteristics, resistant to lodging, diseases and pests, frost and winter hardiness, combining high responsiveness to soil fertility and resistance to limiting environmental factors.
• Development of complex economically and biologically sound land use systems based on the principles of greening and resource and energy conservation, ensuring sustainable productivity of arable land, reduced energy costs and production costs, expanded reproduction of soil fertility.
• Creation of highly productive varieties of perennial legumes and cereal grasses with increased competitiveness in agrophytocenoses and stable seed productivity, heterotic hybrids of corn and semi-sugar fodder beet, ensuring sustainable seed production in the conditions of Belarus.
• Development of contractual agro-zoo-economic business plans for profitable farming.
Certification standards
The quality management system for conducting research and development work and producing seeds of higher reproductions at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Agriculture” complies with the requirements of STB ISO 9001 – 2015.
