Summary
V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany offers consumers the book “Aggressive Plants, Invasive Species in the Territory of Belarus” under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
Description of alien plant species that have a negative impact on the environment. It includes alien plant species that were deliberately or accidentally brought into the country by people.

The book summarizes data on the most aggressive alien plants of the flora of Belarus, which are classified as invasive. Their morphology, distribution patterns, damage they cause, and possible control measures are briefly described. The book is illustrated with original color photographs. The publication is intended for researchers, specialists in rational use of natural resources and nature conservation, forestry workers, landscapers, teachers, students, teachers, summer residents, and all nature lovers.

Today, the introduction of alien species into the natural environment has reached alarming rates. This primarily concerns flora. Literally before our eyes, such plants as Sosnowsky's hogweed, goldenrod, and echinocystis lobata have rapidly spread in Belarus. They have become a part of plant communities, especially near populated areas, and create serious problems for human health, harm agriculture and forestry, but most importantly, they intensively displace native species of not only plants, but also animals, irreparably simplifying the natural environment.

This book lists and describes the main invasive plant species found in our country in alphabetical order. Some of them are recognized as dangerous in Europe. The essays provide scientific and popular names of these species, information about their biology, ecology, origin, as well as specific recommendations for limiting the number and destroying aggressive plants. This publication is very timely, relevant and long-awaited for a wide range of users, starting with students of comprehensive schools, students, nature lovers and various specialists, since such information was not available in a generalized form.

You can also purchase the book in the "Belkniga" online store here.

Additional comments
The V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the oldest biological research institution in the country and is a leading scientific institution in the field of botany.

The main areas of activity of the Institute:
* assessment of the impact of new construction (reconstruction) projects and economic activity on flora;
* ecotourism and eco-education: design and information support of ecological trails, visitor centers and forest environmental education centers, development of advertising products;
* assessment of the degree of contamination of the fertile soil layer with viable seeds of Sosnowsky's hogweed and development of methods for combating this dangerous invasive species;
* development and production of artificial substrates for propagation and cultivation of plants;
* creation of compositions of growth regulators and plant protection products, as well as technologies for their application;
* testing of plant protection products subject to state registration (for tree and shrub species in forest, protective, green plantations, forest plantations and nurseries, as well as for flax).

The Institute has conducted extensive research, as a result of which the distribution and reserves of the most important species of medicinal plants in the republic were established; the dynamics of medicinal plant resources were revealed, recommendations for their rational use were developed; the chorological features of the flora of Belarus were clarified, which formed the basis for developing specific measures to protect individual representatives and floristic complexes as a whole. The Institute has priority in studying the patterns of flora formation, the features of ecology and biology of plant species, the structure and composition of their populations in extreme growing conditions, as well as the taxonomic study of individual species and genera of plants of the Belarusian flora.

The Institute studies the patterns of distribution and formation of natural vegetation of Belarus, the structure and productivity of plant communities, the dynamics and direction of successional processes in the vegetation cover. Scientific foundations for the rational use of plant resources and protection of flora, theoretical foundations and principles of vegetation classification, typological classification of forests of Belarus, forest vegetation and geobotanical zoning of the republic, scientific foundations of forestry management based on zonal-typological principles are being developed. A collection of pure cultures of micromycetes, deuteromycetes, consisting of 55 species (more than 300 strains), 400 strains of bacteria identified to the genus, isolated from the rhizosphere and phylloplane of legumes and potatoes has been created.

The Institute conducts comprehensive research on the development of fundamental principles of modern sustainable and environmentally friendly plant growing, substantiates the effectiveness of using new forms of preparations for agriculture, develops methods for limiting the spread of invasive plant species, creates environmentally safe and cost-effective technologies for using waste from biotechnological production as secondary material resources, which allows for the successful search for methods that combine the environmental focus of extensive agriculture and the advantages of science-intensive intensive food production, and offers new ways to stimulate productivity.

The Institute maintains international relations within the framework of existing agreements on scientific and technical cooperation, agreements and memorandums on scientific and technical (creative) cooperation with specialized organizations in different countries.
