On July 17, 2024, RCTT's experts took part in the webinar "IP and Olympics" organized by the IP Helpdesk.
After webinar you will discover how intellectual assets are used in the Olimpic games and how these practices can however be useful in day-to-day activities of companies operating in different fields. Rules that apply for registration and use worldwide to the Olympics also apply to other businesses, their knowledge is a cornerstone to operate internationally and the international business background of the Olympics allows to understand how to use intellectual assets internationally for business at all scales. How the International Olympic Committee uses its IP rights to generate revenue? And how could you do that too? This training program aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to leverage IP rights effectively, drawing inspiration from the IOC's successful revenue generation strategies. Participants will learn how to identify valuable IP assets, create profitable partnerships, and manage IP-related legal and compliance issues, ensuring sustainable revenue growth for their organizations. .1 Intro - History of OG, International Treaties, OGsymbols, The Olympic Partners (TOP) program .2 Identifying relevant assets (like OG symbols, mascots, pictograms, and broadcasting rights) .3 Rights acquisition (Trademark and copyright) Local relevance in global business .4 Use – The Olympic Partners Programme – Licensing of previously identified and registered rights to generate revenue. National and regional Olympic Committee’s management .5 Case study highlighting – registration and use in a relevant geographical area (that of the appropriate Helpdesk presenting) .6 How can you do it too? - Identify relevant assets - Local registration vs international system - Build your own “partner program” – distribution, license, etc. - Monitor your rights and your partners - Enforce your rights when necessary
