Import substitution is a state policy aimed at optimizing the import of goods and services by stimulating domestic producers to organize the production of products that were previously imported. The policy of import substitution in the Republic of Belarus involves expanding the share of providing the domestic market with domestic goods, services and technologies in order to save foreign currency.

The catalog "Import-substituting products of the NAS of Belarus 2020-2021" presents import-substituting products, services and technologies developed by organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus as part of the implementation of scientific and technical programs, state programs, programs of the Union State, innovative projects and contracts.

In 2020, the organizations of the NAS of Belarus produced 257 types of import-substituting products (services) in the amount of 474.3 million US dollars.
