Summary
The Institute of Metal Technology offers consumers a technology for the production of antifriction silumin as a replacement for antifriction bronze under a commercial agreement with technical assistance or a license agreement and is looking for partners to conclude a technical cooperation agreement.
Description
Antifriction silumin (AC) is a light and wear-resistant aluminum-based alloy with high mechanical and anti-friction properties. AS in terms of friction wear resistance is not inferior to the most common Al-Fe bronzes (BrAZh9-4, etc.) and Pb-Zn-Sn bronzes (BrOTsS5-5-5, etc.) and can replace them in friction units (worm wheels, plain bearings , bushings).

A technology has been developed for manufacturing blanks from AS by casting with an increased solidification rate. This makes it possible to obtain workpieces with a diameter of up to 200 mm with a highly dispersed microstructure without the use of modifying ligatures and fluxes. Subsequent heat treatment in a special accelerated mode improves the tribotechnical properties of AS blanks. The obtained workpieces from AS, manufactured by the proposed technology, have an inverted microstructure with globular silicon crystals with a dispersion of 2..4 μm. Solid and hollow billets from AS are produced by continuous horizontal, cyclic and centrifugal casting methods. Methods for obtaining workpieces from AS are quite simple, productive and do not involve the introduction of expensive alloying elements.

The Institute of Technology of Metals can produce the following AS billets:
- solid cut-to-length cylindrical billets in diameters up to 200 mm and heights up to 150 mm;
- hollow billets with outer diameters from 90 to 200 mm;
-continuously cast bars with diameters from 40 to 80 mm.
Technical parameters of antifriction silumin billets:
- hardness - 125÷140 НВ;
- tensile strength - 350÷450 MPa;
- elongation - 4÷8 %;
- density - 2700 kg/m3.

Technical parameters   БрАЖ 9-4
Antifriction silumin
 Material's density, kg/m3  7500  2700
 Comparative wear resistance 1  4÷6
 Mass of a billet (Ø100mm, length 100 mm), kg   5.9 2.2
 Cost of a billet (Ø100mm, length 100 mm), $ USD  59  26.4

Mechanical properties of AS billets are not worse than those of the bronze ones and their antifriction properties exceed analogous of the latter 4 - 6 fold. Cost and mass of AS billets are less than those of Al-Fe and Pb-Zn-Sn bronze billets by factors of 2÷2.5 and 2.5÷3, respectively.

Advantages and Innovations
An innovative aspect is the technology of casting Al-Si alloys with globular silicon crystals with a dispersion of 4..6 μm, evenly distributed in an aluminum matrix, developed at the State Scientific Institution "ITM NAS of Belarus" without the use of modifiers. Thanks to this microstructure, the obtained workpieces from AS are superior in mechanical and antifriction properties to those from Al-Fe bronzes and Pb-Zn-Sn bronzes.

Worm and gear wheels made of AS in terms of mechanical properties are not inferior to similar ones made of bronze, and in terms of antifriction, they surpass them by 4..6 times.

In terms of mechanical properties, blanks made of AS are not inferior to similar ones made of bronze, and in terms of antifriction properties, they surpass them by 4..6 times. Billets from AS are cheaper than similar bronzes from Al-Fe and Pb-Zn-Sn by 2..2.5 times, and their weight is 2.5..3 times lower.
