Brest Regional Agricultural Experimental Station of the NAS of Belarus offers consumers and producers of agricultural products services for scientific support of Potato farming in the region under an outsourcing agreement and/or planting material under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.

Services are provided by specialists from the Potato Department.

The Potato Department focuses on the production of healthy potato seed in the laboratory, field, and indoor settings. Original seed is propagated using virus-free biotechnological methods. One of the department's activities is conducting scientific research to improve potato production technology and test promising hybrids.

The department operates a microclonal laboratory used for the accelerated propagation of healthy plants in vitro. Each year, the laboratory grows up to 100,000 parent plants in test tubes, from which 300,000-400,000 healthy minitubers are subsequently produced in the greenhouse complex.

The resulting seed is tested for viral, bacterial, and fungal diseases.

For potato storage, a modern potato storage facility with a 2,000-ton capacity and a complex of potato processing machines is available. A container-type potato storage facility with a revolutionary suction-type container ventilation system (a ventilation system from the Dutch company Omnivent).

The department sells original and premium potato seed for cash and by bank transfer. It also provides consulting assistance in selecting varieties and cultivation techniques, and implements targeted potato growing technologies in farms in the Brest region.

The innovative activities of the RUE "Brest OSKHOS NAS of Belarus" include original seed production of new agricultural crop varieties and the production of fruit and berry planting material, in quantities that support planned variety renewal and variety rotation in the Brest Region, thereby directly influencing the development of variety policy in the region. The RUE "Brest OSKHOS NAS of Belarus" is the only producer of original seed material for major agricultural crops in the Brest Region.
