Summary
The Institute of Genetics and Cytology offers consumers services for the compilation of a human genetic health passport for health protection using domestic DNA technologies under an outsourcing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
Methods of molecular genetic analysis have been created, thanks to which unique personal information about gene variants associated with predisposition to various human diseases is obtained. Identification of human genetic characteristics allows for prevention or early diagnosis of diseases. A genetic passport is unique personal information about gene variants, with the help of which diagnostics and/or targeted preventive measures are carried out regarding the possible development of diseases of a particular person. The passport includes data on genes associated with a predisposition to cardiovascular pathologies, venous thrombosis, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, carbohydrate-fat metabolism disorders, metabolic syndrome (obesity + arterial hypertension + diabetes mellitus), rupture and stretching of ligaments and tendons, sensitivity to a number of drugs, lactose, gluten, etc.

Diagnostics of genetically determined causes of miscarriage, as well as male infertility (sperm DNA fragmentation) are carried out.

An analysis of genes that control the feeling of satiety after eating (eating behavior), genes that determine the effectiveness of weight loss as a result of exercise, as well as genes that determine the effectiveness of sports nutrition is carried out.

Services are provided on the basis of the accredited Republican Center for Genomic Biotechnology of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

For more information on human genetic testing, visit the Institute's website here. (in Russian)

More information about genetic testing can also be found in the Catalogue of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus "Applied Developments".

Information is posted in Album of promising developments of the NAS of Belarus organizations for the real sector of the economy (2023), p. 272-273. (in Russian)
Advantages and Innovations
The service is competitive, more than 20,000 genetic passports have been issued, including to citizens of the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Israel, etc.

A genetic passport is the basis of individual and predictive medicine. Identification of a person's genetic characteristics allows for prevention or early diagnosis of multifactorial diseases, the correct choice of treatment methods, and consideration of an individual response to medications, which increases the effectiveness of treatment and reduces the risk of complications.
Identification of unfavorable gene variants in the diagnosis of genetic causes of miscarriage allows for their effects to be corrected with medications, which ensures the normal course of pregnancy.

DNA fragmentation is one of the main genetic causes of decreased male fertility and reproductive losses when using assisted reproductive technologies. To assess DNA fragmentation in male sperm, the institute's specialists use a highly sensitive research protocol based on the Comet assay method, approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus. Violations of sperm DNA integrity are corrected with the help of medications.

The developed DNA technologies are safe and relate to genomic research and genomic biotechnology, are high-tech (correspond to the VI technological order).

The high methodological level is confirmed by passing interlaboratory comparisons at the Reference Institute of Bioanalytics in Germany.
