On May 01, 2025, RCTT's experts took part in the webinar “Should the federal government fund basic research?” organized by the Bayh-Dole Coalition (the U.S.).

The webinar participants discussed the legacy of Vannevar Bush's Science: The Endless Frontier and whether his vision still holds in today's world, and examined the role of the U.S. government in funding research in the 21st century and what kind of return taxpayers should expect.

The webinar was moderated by Joseph P. Allen, Executive Director of the Bayh-Dole Coalition. As a career staffer on the Senate Judiciary Committee under Senator Birch Bayh (D-Ind.), he played a key role in the successful passage of the Bayh-Dole Act of 1980 and its subsequent amendments. Joseph P. Allen moderated the conversation with expert panelists:
