Artificial Intelligence Index Report 2025
The new AI Index Report 2025 (455 p.) was published on April 7, 2025 by the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI). This is the 8th edition of this annual report that provides details and analysis of the AI landscape worldwide including global adoption, publications, patents, funding, startups, technical advancements, public perceptions, performance benchmarks, jobs, and education.
Highlights
1. US private AI investment grew to $109.1B in 2024.
2. US private AI investment was almost 12x China’s $9.3B and 24x the UK's $4.5B.
3. Global private investment in GenAI grew to $33.9B in 2024.
4. Global private investment in GenAI increased 18.7% from 2023 to 2024.
5. 78% of organizations reported using AI in 2024.
6. The number of organizations using AI increased 55% in 2024.
7. The US leads in producing top AI models.
8. Chinese models are closing the quality gap.
9. The US is the global leader in Information Computer Technology (ICT) education, producing more graduates in the associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels than any other country.
10.Global AI optimism is increasing.
