Summary

Description
The Republican Unitary Enterprise "Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Animal Husbandry" solves the national economic problem of creating animals - producers of new medicinal proteins, innovative functional food products and food products for baby food, food products for dietary preventive and therapeutic nutrition for adults.

A modern technological platform for industrial production of therapeutic proteins using transgenic animals has been created. Biotechnology of transgenesis of farm animals was implemented on the example of recombinant human lactoferrin produced with the milk of goats-producers.

Currently, biotechnology of transgenesis of farm animals has been tested in the creation of animals - producers of recombinant human lactoferrin. In particular, a Biotechnological Scientific and Experimental Production has been created, which contains about 200 heads of producer goats of all ages with a concentration of 2.0-2.5 g / l in milk. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus issued the Center a permit on April 23, 2018, No. 4, for the release into the environment of non-pathogenic genetically engineered organisms "transgenic goats with an integrated human lactoferrin gene" on a specially equipped experimental field of Bioproduction (passport of the experimental field from 2018, no Nr.).

The Expert Council on the Safety of Genetically Engineered Organisms of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus conducted a state examination and received permission to use a transgenic line of goats with an integrated gene construct responsible for the production of rhLF in the mammary gland for economic purposes (minutes of the Expert Council dated February 28, 2019).

Biotechnology is designed to create transgenic animals - producers of recombinant human medicinal proteins with subsequent high-tech use of science-intensive biopharmaceutical production based on the use of an innovative substance of protein nature from the milk of goat producers, the development of new innovative drugs based on them and testing the functional properties of new recombinant proteins in accordance with international standards.

Pharmaceutical companies are interested in the development and creation of recombinant proteins that are analogs of human and mammalian proteins. Drugs created on their basis are capable of targeted action, including at the level of individual cells. The creation of such target-oriented drugs will increase the effectiveness of the treatment of oncological, rheumatic, infectious diseases, as well as diseases of the nervous system.

Advantages and Innovations
In the course of implementing the scientific and technical programs of the Union State for the creation of highly effective and biologically safe new-generation drugs based on human proteins obtained from animal milk "BelRosTransgen", 2003-2007 (Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of October 15, 2002 No. 34) and "BelRosTransgen-2", 2009-2013 (Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of June 26, 2009 No. 23) a unique scientific facility was created on the basis of the RUE "SPC of the NAS of Belarus for Animal Husbandry" - an experimental herd of goats for biotechnological work on animal transgenesis. The scientific facility is organized to carry out various works on the creation and testing of a herd of animal producers - a "bioreactor" for obtaining highly active recombinant proteins with milk, which is the main component in the technological chain of development and creation of innovative products.

The Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Animal Husbandry is the only scientific center in the country conducting research in the field of selection, reproduction, maintenance technology and effective feeding rations for farm animals. It coordinates the activities of four subsidiary unitary enterprises. The main goal of the Scientific and Practical Center is to concentrate the scientific potential of the republic on increasing the efficiency of animal husbandry through comprehensive scientific research and the introduction of scientific developments into production, their author's support, as well as improving the skills of animal husbandry specialists through courses, seminars, conferences, postgraduate and doctoral studies.

The main areas of scientific and scientific-technical activities of the organization are:
- Carrying out fundamental and applied research aimed at developing effective methods for accelerated breed formation and reproduction of farm animals;
- Improving the breeding of new breeds, crosses, types and lines of farm animals (dairy and beef cattle, pigs, horses and sheep), birds and fish bred in the republic;
