Summary
Scientific and Practical Centre for Animal Husbandry offers consumers services for the development and adaptation to customer conditions of protein supplements based on processed rapeseed oilseed products and the technology of their use in feeding young cattle under an outsourcing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
Reduction of purchases of protein supplements abroad, the possibility of using rapeseed meal in the diets of young cattle as a domestic high-protein product - a solution to the problem of providing livestock with locally produced feed protein, increasing the efficiency of beef production.
Numerous studies on the use of rapeseed meal in compound feed for growing and fattening young cattle indicate a positive effect of its feeding on productivity, growth rate and meat quality while simultaneously increasing the provision of cheaper protein in diets with positive characteristics on the level of transformation of energy and protein into products.
Rapeseed meal is used in feeding farm animals, balancing diets for energy, protein, minerals and other nutrients.
In the Republic of Belarus, there are significant opportunities to increase the share of rapeseed meal in agricultural enterprises for raising and fattening young cattle by expanding the acreage for this crop and partially or completely replacing expensive imported protein feeds with it. The growth in sales of local protein sources - rapeseed meal and cake products - is due to their demand as one of the main components of animal feed in both the domestic and foreign markets.
The information is posted in the "Album of Promising Developments of the NAS of Belarus Organizations for the Real Sector of the Economy" (2023), pp. 460 - 461. (in Russian)
Information is also available on the website of the Scientific and Practical Center for Animal Husbandry here. (in Russian)

Advantages and Innovations
The popularity of rapeseed meal in cattle feeding has increased against the backdrop of rising costs of imported protein products, since significant volumes of both compound feed and meal are imported from neighboring countries. The Republic of Belarus is one of the main buyers of Ukrainian sunflower meal, and the average volume of purchases over the past few years has been at least 500 thousand tons, the replacement of which with a local source of protein with a lower cost will save the country's foreign currency.
The use of a product of processing of Belarusian-bred rapeseed oilseeds - meal - in compound feed makes it possible to compensate for the protein deficiency in the diets of young cattle raised for meat, reduce the import of protein raw materials and the cost of production.
The use of rapeseed meal in cattle feeding, as well as the preparation of high-protein compound feed on its basis is environmentally safe, since it eliminates the problem of disposal. The use of this high-protein feed in feeding young cattle helps to increase the productive performance of livestock and reduce the purchase of expensive protein feed.

Additional comments
The Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Animal Husbandry is the only scientific center in the country conducting research in the field of selection, reproduction, maintenance technology and effective feeding rations for farm animals. It coordinates the activities of four subsidiary unitary enterprises. The main goal of the Scientific and Practical Center is to concentrate the scientific potential of the republic on increasing the efficiency of animal husbandry through comprehensive scientific research and the introduction of scientific developments into production, their author's support, as well as improving the skills of animal husbandry specialists through courses, seminars, conferences, postgraduate and doctoral studies.
The main areas of scientific and scientific-technical activities of the organization are:
- Carrying out fundamental and applied research aimed at developing effective methods for accelerated breed formation and reproduction of farm animals;
- Improving the breeding of new breeds, crosses, types and lines of farm animals (dairy and beef cattle, pigs, horses and sheep), birds and fish bred in the republic;
- Development of environmentally friendly technologies for feeding, keeping, reproducing and using animals, ensuring maximum manifestation of their genetic potential with minimum expenditure of labor, energy and feed;
- Development of new compositions of compound feed and feed additives based on local sources of raw materials;
- Finding ways to increase the efficiency of transforming feed energy into livestock products;
- Development of therapeutic, preventive and diagnostic veterinary drugs;
- Improving the technology of feeding, keeping and using animals, birds and fish;
- Training of scientific personnel and advanced training of zootechnical specialists.
