Summary
A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the NAS of Belarus offers consumers services for the quality control of polymer materials under a outsourcing agreement or subcontract.
Description
A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the NAS of Belarus is equipped with a material strength meter IPM-1K, which is designed for non-destructive testing of hardness (Shore and in international units IRHD), elasticity, viscosity, dynamic modulus of elasticity and relaxation characteristics of rubber, as well as hardness, modulus of elasticity and yield strength of plastics.

The material strength meters IPM-1K structurally consists of a shock converter and an electronic ADC unit connected to a personal computer.

The method of dynamic indentation used in the device consists in applying a local impact on the tested product, registering the force loading diagram and calculating the complex of basic physical and mechanical characteristics of the controlled material using special algorithms.

Technical specifications:
Parameter Meaning
Strength measuring range 0,1..100 MPa
Permissible measurement error when calibrating according to user samples ±8 %
Measurement time 5 s
Overall dimensions of the electronic unit 210×160×80 mm
Overall dimensions of impact transducer 85×80×45 mm
Weight of the electronic unit 0,7 kg
Weight of impact transducer 0,2 kg
Power supply network 230V,50Hz
Test impact energy 2 mJ
Indenter tip diameter 2 mm

Areas of application:
* road and industrial-civil construction;
* mechanical engineering, energy and chemical industries.

The Institute offers partners services for the quality control of polymer materials under a outsourcing agreement or subcontract.

Advantages and Innovations
Material strength meter IPM-1K has the following advantages:
* continuous recording of the impact process in combination with the use of a personal computer for processing measurement signals can significantly increase the information content of measurements (according to the results of one test impact, parameters characterizing the elastic, plastic and viscous properties of the controlled material are determined), which allows for a comprehensive assessment of the quality of controlled materials;
* the non-destructive nature of the tests allows measurements to be carried out directly on products without making special samples;
* the low energy of the test impact allows the control of thin-walled products.
