Summary

Description
The OPUS program calculates the volumetric content of the interfacial layer, the ratio of the layer thickness to the average radius of the filler particles, and the ratio of the shear modulus of the layer material to the shear modulus of the polymer matrix. The following models, hypotheses and calculation methods known in the mechanics of composites are used:
* four-phase model of a composite filled with spherical particles;
* hypothesis of "temperature shift" of the properties of the interphase layer relative to the properties of the matrix;
* the assumption of the constancy of the volumetric modulus of the matrix polymer material with a change in temperature;
* the method of "compound inclusion" for calculating the effective properties of the composite, taking into account the interphase layer;
* energy principle of homogenization to determine the effective coefficient of thermal expansion of a structurally inhomogeneous material.

Scope: strength calculations and computer-aided design of products from dispersed-filled polymer composites.
Advantages and Innovations
Advantages: it allows with high accuracy and with minimal computational costs to determine the values of the mechanical characteristics of the interfacial layer of a polymer material filled with spherical particles, based on the volumetric content of the filler, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, yield stress and thermal expansion coefficient of the specified composite, matrix and filler.
