Summary
A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the NAS of Belarus offers consumers a modification of the surface properties of metals on a quasi-stationary high-current plasma accelerator QHPA P-12x2 under a manufacturing agreement, is looking for partners to conclude a technical cooperation agreement.
Description
Progress in the development of modern technologies is associated with the creation of new materials with significantly improved performance, including by modifying the surface properties of widely used materials to give them a new required quality. Fundamentally new possibilities for the effective modification of the surface properties of various materials, including powder coatings, open up the impact on them of compression plasma flows.

A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the NAS of Belarus has developed a quasi-stationary high-current plasma accelerator QHPA P-12x2, designed to generate high-energy compressive plasma flows to effectively modify the surface properties of materials that are inaccessible to other methods, to solve a number of problems of controlled thermonuclear fusion (filling magnetic traps, the problem of the first wall of a thermonuclear reactor, etc. .), as well as for the creation of plasma engines for space purposes.

In cooperation with the Department of Solid State Physics and Semiconductors of the Faculty of Physics of the Belarusian State University, materials science research is being carried out, which fixes the following changes:

In samples of structural steels:
- formation of a deep (up to 50 µm) modified layer;
- increase in the concentration of introduced nitrogen and synthesis of hardening nitrides of alloying metals;
- increase in microhardness by 1.5 - 2.5 times;
- reduction of the friction coefficient of the surface up to 4.5 times.

In titanium samples:
- increase in the concentration of introduced nitrogen and synthesis of hardening nitrides of alloying metals;
- an increase in the alloyed layer of chromium, molybdenum, nickel and zirconium with a depth of 15 - 20 microns;
- increase in hardness by 1.5 - 2.5 times;
- reduction of friction coefficient up to 4.5 times.

In silicon samples:
- synthesis of regular bulk structures with a diameter of 100 - 700 nm and a length of up to 500 microns;
- synthesis during one discharge (~100 μs) of surface volumetric submicron structures and nanostructured metal clusters covering them (spherical formations with a diameter of 50-200 nm, consisting of nanoparticles with a size of 10-30 nm);
- formation of an alloyed near-surface layer (up to 7 microns) containing silicides of alloying elements.

Technical characteristics of QHPA P-12x2:
Energy put into the discharge 32 kJ
Plasma flow rate 50–150 km/s
Plasma electron temperature 3–15 eV
Plasma electron concentration 1016–5∙1017 cm-3
Plasma lifetime ~150 µs

Areas of application of QHPA P-12x2
- controlled thermonuclear fusion (CTF);
- electric rocket engines (ERE) of high power;
- laser technology;
- vacuum-plasma technology and plasma chemistry;
- modeling of gas-dynamic, astrophysical and ionospheric processes both in the laboratory and directly in outer space;
- it is possible to use as a plasmodynamic accelerator of solid particles for modeling a meteor impact in laboratory conditions.

The Institute offers partners:
* modification of the surface properties of metals on the quasi-stationary high-current plasma accelerator QHPA P-12x2 under a manufacturing agreement;
* within the framework of an agreement on technical cooperation, the joint development of technology for modifying the surface properties of metals.
Advantages and Innovations
The set of plasma parameters of compression flows generated by QHPA P-12x2 is unattainable for other currently existing plasma-dynamic systems.

The magnetoplasma compressor generates high-energy compressive plasma flows, according to the set of parameters that determine the capabilities of the methods modifications of the surface layers of materials, surpassing all types of plasma accelerators existing today.
