Summary
The Institute of Radiobiology offers consumers services in developing recommendations for cultivating crops and keeping animals in personal subsidiary plots (farmers, household plots) in the territory of radioactive contamination in the remote period after the Chernobyl disaster under an outsourcing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
The recommendations provide general information about the radiation situation in settlements on the territory of radioactive contamination. Information is provided on the species difference of vegetable, fruit and berry crops grown on mineral and peat soils, according to the accumulation of radionuclides. The predicted levels of specific activity of 137Cs and 90Sr in agricultural crops are shown at different density of soil contamination with radionuclides. Reflected information on ways to reduce the levels of radionuclides in grown products.
The basic recommendations present the parameters of accumulation of radionuclides and the predicted levels of their content in livestock products, when keeping animals and poultry in personal subsidiary farms with different density of radioactive contamination of the territory. Methods for reducing the levels of 137Cs and 90Sr in livestock products are presented.
The recommendations are intended for residents of settlements located on the territory contaminated with radionuclides, organizers of personal subsidiary (farming) farms, employees of scientific institutions, teachers, students and pupils of educational institutions of agronomic and agroecological profile and can be finalized in accordance with the requirements of the customer.

Additional comments
The State Scientific Institution "Institute of Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" carries out its scientific and scientific-organizational activities in accordance with the main areas of scientific research:
– assessment and forecast of long-term medical and biological consequences of the action of ionizing radiation;
– study of the combined effect of radiation and non-radiation factors on the body, including electromagnetic radiation, development of protective measures;
– assessment of the impact of radioactive contamination on the environment, plants, and animals, development of methods for safe environmental management, radioecological monitoring;
– study of the processes of inclusion of radionuclides in food chains under conditions of radioactive contamination, including transuranium elements, their intake and accumulation in the body and the formation of radiation doses, development of methods for influencing these processes in order to reduce negative consequences.
The priority areas of scientific and technical activity and fundamental and applied scientific research are:
- "Medicine and Pharmacy": the creation of new technologies for the prevention of diseases based on the use of biologically active additives and other medicines;
- "Ecology and rational nature management": monitoring and forecasting the state of the environment, rehabilitation of radioactively contaminated lands;
- "Development of new therapeutic, diagnostic, preventive and rehabilitation technologies, medical devices and products, medicinal and immunobiological preparations, cellular and molecular biological technologies": mechanisms of adaptation of the human body to the action of environmental factors, including the effects of ionizing radiation;
– “Ecological safety, environmental protection, minerals and subsoil of Belarus, efficient use and renewal of natural resources, prevention and elimination of consequences of emergency situations”: protective measures to overcome the remote radioecological consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.
- study of the mechanisms of the biological action of low doses of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and the influence that has developed in the regions of the republic, the environmental situation on living organisms;
- study of patterns of behavior of pollutants and radionuclides in ecosystems, their inclusion in trophic chains and accumulation in the body;
- development of ways and means to reduce the negative impact of environmental factors on human health.
International cooperation agreements are being implemented with specialized organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State of Japan, the People's Republic of China, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Serbia, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic , Czech Republic.
