Summary
The United Institute of Mechanical Engineering offers consumers technology and equipment for hypersonic metallization on the basis of a license agreement and a commercial agreement with technical assistance, and also provides coating services for parts using hypersonic metallization technology under a manufacturing agreement.
Description
Purpose:
- to restore (harden) worn out cylindrical surfaces (brake drums, shaft journals, axles paired with rolling (sliding) bearings
- to restore (harden) flat parts (guides, friction discs)
-protection against corrosion of parts, structural elements, and structures
- production of bimetallic "steel - bronze" pistons instead of all-bronze ones.

Equipment is produced, and a number of technological processes for applying wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, antifriction coatings on machine parts and structural elements have been developed.

Recommendations for the organization of specialized sections have been developed.
Advantages and Innovations
Hypersonic metallization technology, which differs from traditional electrometallization by using
a continuous source of energy for heating the gas, spraying the wires melted in the arc. The gas heated to a temperature of about 2000 ° C, flowing out through the Laval nozzle, acquires a speed of 900 ... 1300 m / s, which makes it possible to accelerate the particles of the sprayed material to speeds of more than 400 m / s.

Competitive advantages:
•minimum porosity of coatings (steel ≤ 4%) with an adhesion strength of more than 60 MPa;
•productivity 16 ... 18 kg / h, which is twice as high as that of high-speed coating methods;
•cost of applying 1 kg of coating 3–10 times lower than the known high-speed coating methods;
•replacement of galvanic chromium plating is possible.
