Seminar "Women and intellectual property - a Catalyst for Innovation and Creativity" took place

On April 27, 2023, the seminar “Women and Intellectual Property - a Catalyst for Innovation and Creativity” was held in Minsk, dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day.

The seminar is organized by the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the National Center for Intellectual Property with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The opening ceremony was attended by Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Shlychkov, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Daren Tang (video message), Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Gursky, General Director of the National Center for Intellectual Property Vladimir Ryabovolov.

Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Shlychkov emphasized in his speech that today about 40 percent of the scientific potential of Belarus are women who, on an equal basis with men, make a significant contribution to Belarusian and world science.

Section 1 of the seminar considered the role of women in invention in the modern world, section 2 - problems and prospects for the use of intellectual property. Director of the Republican Center for Technology Transfer Dr. Alexander Uspenskiy made a presentation at section 2 “The Inventions Readiness Levels and the Possibility Commercialization Inventions in the Republic of Belarus”. Section 3 deals with the issues of state incentives for entrepreneurship based on innovation.
