On December 17, 2020, an online presentation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) publication "Sub-regional Innovation Policy Outlook 2020: Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus” took place in Belarus.

In the event took part Mr. Sergei Sherbakov, Vice Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus; Ms. Elisabeth Tuerk, Director for Economic Cooperation and Trade, UNECE; Mr. Anders Jönsson, Chief, Innovative Policies Development Section, UNECE; Belarusian and international experts in the field of innovation activities.

The Sub-regional Innovation Policy Outlook (IPO), a pilot UNECE flagship publication, supports efforts in the EESC region to respond to this requirement through a concerted, systematic and comprehensive assessment and thorough comparison of the scope, quality, and effectiveness of innovation policies, institutions and processes across countries with shared economic, structural, legacy and institutional features. The IPO complements international composite indices measuring innovation inputs, outputs and performance by looking more closely at the role that policies and institutions play in promoting innovation.
